William Howard Taft (1857-1930)(1909-1913)Ohio born and Ohio political career. The only President to be a President and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. He was also the first President to be buried in Arlington Cemetery as well.

Ulysses S Grant (1822-1885)(served 1869-1877) Savior of the Union and securer of the post-Civil War peace. Established the Department of Justice to fight Reconstruction Era terror. Read his autobiography here:

Benjamin Harrison (1833-1901)(1889-1893).

Ohio birth, Indiana political career. Apparently the first President with an audio recording. Ohio born, Ohio Political Career. Had the misfortune of being sandwiched between Grover Cleveland’s two terms. He modernized the Navy, and helped pass the Sherman Anti-Trust Act.

Vice President Charles G Dawes (1865-1951) (1905-1909-VP To Theodore Roosevelt. Winner of the 1925 Nobel Peace Prize due to his work on Reparations

Rutherford B. Hayes(1822-1893)(1877-1881). Became President through a deal that ended Reconstruction and disenfranchised black men in the South. One term due to the “corrupt” agreement.

Warren G Harding (1865-1923)(1921-1923) Born and had his political career in Ohio.

To say Warren Harding had a troubled Presidency was an understatement. Several advisers he trusted used him to gain corrupt advantage, not least of which was the infamous Teapot Dome. Even his death has been the souce of speculation-natural or murder?

James A Garfield (1831-1951)(1881) Assassinated in his first year by an office seeker (spoils system) his death created the incentive for the modern Civil Service System, with government jobs by merit that go from term to term.

Vice President Charles Fairbanks(1852-1918)(1905-1909) Vice President to Theodore Roosevelt and worked on the border between Alaska and Canada (the City of Fairbanks was named after him).

William McKinley (1843-1901) (1897-1901) Winner of the Spanish/American War. Ohio Born, Ohio Political Career.

Assassinated in 1901, his Presidency lead to the acquisition of Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Phillippines.
